The second half of the South West Baseball League season has started and the Muskets began their Double A campaign against the Bristol Bats, the only undefeated team from the first half of the year. The hosts rose to the challenge of the new division and ran out 17-5 winners after 7 innings.
The game started out close, with the Muskets edging out a 2-1 lead after the first inning, with Andres narrowly missing out on adding to the lead, falling about a foot short of hitting a home run. The sides continued to be evenly matched, with the score tied at 4-4 after the Bats clawed back some runs, however that parity would be short lived with the Muskets getting their eye in at the plate. A big eight run inning in the bottom of the fifth gave the Muskets a commanding lead, with the Muskets capitalizing on some uncharacteristic errors from the Bats and some solid contact.
Andres pitched another great game and the whole team produced at the plate, with some notable at bats for Mark Walker and Josh helping the Taunton outfit build a comfortable lead. Two strong defensive innings meant the Muskets took their first game of Double A ball 17-5 and increasing their win streak to six games. The Muskets next challenge is a trip to Yeovil to take on the Whirlwinds.
